About the Echo Prize

The Echo Prize exists to promote the rigor of AI safety research by encouraging replication studies of foundational results, while also encouraging people of all backgrounds to learn about and get involved in technical AI safety.

We believe that science has a problem with reproducibility, and the only way to change that is to create better incentives for scientific rigor. Our approach is direct: pay people to replicate results, starting with students for cost-effectiveness.

Who Are We?

The Echo Prize is run and funded primarily by Max Niederman. Our UC Berkeley campus representative is Mahesh Arunachalam.
